1. Who we are
Nuance is operated by Elisabeth Lahtinen ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at support@nuance.ac.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data — name, email address, and authentication credentials or Google account identifier used to sign in.
- Content you create — Brand Brain answers, stories, ideas, reference text you paste, clarification answers, drafts, planned posts and published post records.
- Preferences — notification and reminder settings, timezone.
- Subscription data — plan status, billing period and subscription identifiers received from our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
- Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and server logs generated when you use the service, including a record of when AI generation actions ran (used for security and fair-use limits).
- Support messages — anything you send us by email.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To create your account and provide the service, including generating drafts from the material you give us — performance of a contract.
- To personalise writing output to your Brand Brain and past content — performance of a contract.
- To send publishing reminders and service notifications you have enabled — performance of a contract.
- To manage subscriptions, invoicing and tax through our payment provider — performance of a contract and legal obligation.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce fair-use limits — legitimate interests.
- To respond to support requests and improve the product — legitimate interests.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your content to train third-party foundation models beyond what is necessary to produce your own output.
4. AI processing
When you create a draft, the material you provide — your idea, story, reference text, clarification answers, Brand Brain profile and a summary of your recent published posts — is sent to our AI processing provider so a draft can be produced and returned to you. It is processed solely to generate your output. Output can be inaccurate; you remain responsible for reviewing anything before you publish it.
5. Who we share data with
- Hosting and database providers — to run the application and store your content.
- AI processing providers — to generate drafts and suggestions from the material you submit.
- Paddle.com Market Ltd — our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, payment processing, subscription management, invoicing and tax compliance.
- Email delivery providers — for account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset.
- Professional advisers and authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
7. Retention
We keep your account data and content for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from Settings, your Brand Brain, stories, drafts, planned posts, published records, notifications and preferences are permanently deleted, and your login is removed so the account can no longer be used. Backups are cycled out within 30 days. Transaction and invoice records held by our Merchant of Record are retained by them for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and are not under our control. Anonymised, non-identifying operational logs may be kept for security purposes.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You can delete your account and content at any time from Settings. For any other request, email support@nuance.ac and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest, row-level access controls that scope every record to its owner, and restricted administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your content as private to you.
10. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to run the checkout. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our payment provider may set cookies necessary to complete a purchase. You can clear this storage in your browser at any time; doing so will sign you out.
11. Children
Nuance is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
If we make a material change to this notice we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
